Our Pork is all free range– known as 'fresh air' pigs they are an award winning cross of a Hampshire and Landrace pig. They are traditionally fed, and reared outdoors in Stillington, near York, using best husbandry and practices to achieve a happy well flavoured pig! The Old Lodge Evening Restaurant Menu, June 2008

 About our Evening menu-

At the beginning of the year, our head Chef, Sarah, decided it would be fun to give all our Chefs a chance to put their own dishes on the menu. Each of our Chefs, Sarah, Mark and Rory have designed 2 starters & 2 main courses. Each month we see whose dishes have been most popular.  June’s most popular starter was the Smoked Mackerel Pate, designed by Gary, and the most popular main course was a tie between Sarah’s Rack of lamb, and Gary’s Halibut with Anchovy butter and two pepper sauce! So~ who’s going to win July?

Starters:

Carrot Roulade with a cream cheese and watercress filling, served with melba toast and a warm caramelised sweet onion chutney, £4.75

A really pretty dish, full of cool and creamy fresh flavours. Try the warm sweet caramelised onion with the cool fresh cream cheese– it really works together and tastes absolutely fantastic!

Main courses:

Quorn and Halloumi Cheese Tower, placed on a cabbage and roasted pine nut parcel, with a roasted red pepper sauce, £12.95

The big surprise with this dish is that it tastes so meaty! The firm and salty Halloumi cheese adds depth, and the sauce adds sweetness and further depth to the overall taste. The toasted nuts give a soft crunch to the texture of this complex and flavourful dish. Be brave– give it a try!

Skewer of King Prawns, Salmon and fresh vegetables, served with a timbale of fluffy white rice and a creamy saffron sauce, £14.95

Fresh clean flavours of salmon and prawns combine well with the crunchy veg. Great for anyone watching the calories (if you ask for the sauce on the side!)
